About this tour

A varied day from hilltop views to Penang Botanic Gardens and the heart of George Town. Ride the funicular with around two and a half hours for the ascent, descent, viewpoints and queues, then explore the gardens and open paths including the Secret Garden area. Lunch is at Halab Penang on Chulia Street. Continue to Kapitan Keling Mosque, Armenian Street and street art, then Chew Jetty and the Esplanade waterfront with exterior views of Fort Cornwallis. The eight-hour hotel-to-hotel programme has a clear stop schedule including all transfers and lunch. Funicular tickets, the meal and paid indoor admissions are separate unless explicitly included in the proposal.

    Pickup and drive to Penang Hill

    Travel from the hotel to the Air Itam funicular station; timing follows hotel location.

    09:45–12:15

    Funicular and Penang Hill viewpoints

    Ride the funicular up and down, explore viewpoints and take photos; the two-and-a-half-hour allowance includes normal queues.

    12:15–13:15

    Penang Botanic Gardens and Secret Garden

    Allow about 20 minutes for transfer and 40 minutes to walk through open garden areas including Secret Garden. The route does not depend on plant houses with restricted visiting times.

    13:15–14:30

    Lunch at Halab Penang – George Town

    Transfer to Halab Penang, 381 Lebuh Chulia, and allow around 45 minutes for lunch. The meal is paid by the guest; table availability is checked before the visit.

    Kapitan Keling Mosque and Armenian Street

    A mosque stop respecting prayer and entry times, followed by a walk through the heritage streets and Armenian Street art.

    Chew Jetty and waterfront

    Explore accessible wooden walkways and waterfront homes while respecting residents.

    15:50–16:15

    Esplanade and Fort Cornwallis exterior

    A short transfer to the waterfront for photos and exterior views of the civic buildings and fort; this stop does not include indoor admission.
