Sabah Parks lists conservation fees of RM100 international and RM50 Malaysian, plus scuba fees of RM350 international and RM250 Malaysian. Where both apply, the combined amounts are RM450 international and RM300 Malaysian; confirm applicability and validity with your operator. Limited permits must be arranged in advance through an authorized operator. These fees do not automatically include boats, equipment, guiding, accommodation or meals. A separate child tariff was not verified.

Visiting hours

Visits follow the permit date, boat schedule and park instructions. Confirm departure, return and the number of dives allowed for your date; do not rely on another operator’s schedule or older information.

Suggested visit duration

Allow a day for the boat visit and diving from your agreed accommodation base. A multi-night stay around Semporna or Mabul may be needed to arrange a permit day. Staying nearby does not itself guarantee access; obtain written confirmation of the date.

Best time to visit

Choose suitable sea conditions and permit availability. Dive operators announce a November conservation closure; confirm the annual closure dates with the authority before booking. Visibility and currents vary even during operating months.

Why visit Sipadan Island Park?

Sipadan lies in the Celebes Sea off Sabah, above a formation rising from deep water, and is managed by Sabah Parks. The main attraction is diving and marine ecology; this is not an unrestricted beach excursion. The gallery shows Sipadan reef life, including fish, a turtle and a shark. Natural sightings vary by site and conditions and are not guaranteed.

What to look forward to

Dive along reef walls and explore marine life at sites chosen by your guide. Confirm certification and experience requirements; dive operators specify Advanced Open Water or equivalent for Sipadan. Snorkelling, when available, requires separate confirmation of permits and arrangements.
